CAST & CREW
CAROLINE PROUST | LAURE BERTHAUD
After Gilou separated from the team, Laure has to cope with the absence of her teammate, and with her sense of guilt. The CI team has lost the confidence of the higher-ups and the team is no longer being given cases. Laure sees a migrant’s murder case as a chance to create a more united team, but Gilou’s unexpected intrusion into her investigation changes everything, forcing her to take stock of her life and her attitude to her job.
THIERRY GODARD | GILOU ESCOFFIER
Although Gilou continues to take sole responsibility for his and Laure’s past misconduct, he hasn’t given up hope of becoming a cop again. He negotiates a reinstatement deal with Commissioner Brémont, on the condition that he infiltrates a gang of former armed robbers – a high-risk mission contingent upon a dangerous paradox: his reinstatement into the police depends on his acceptance into the criminal world. He has to keep Laure out of all this; she can no longer be his guardian angel. Or can she?
AUDREY FLEUROT | JOSÉPHINE KARLSSON
Josephine has taken up the cause of female victims of violence. She has an ambiguous, part sisterly, part flirtatious relationship with Lola, and is preparing for the trial of Lola’s rapist when she suddenly decides to defend the young Souleymane, an unaccompanied minor suspected of murder. Is she unconsciously trying to sabotage yet another relationship, for fear of becoming dependent on Lola? Could her defense of Souleymane bring her back, at last, to the essence of her work?
TEWFIK JALLAB | ALI AMRANI
Ali, Laure’s new right-hand man, is finding it hard to deal with the consequences of Gilou’s downfall, and bristles at having to pay for the mistakes of his elders. As a new father, he’s tempted to focus on his own career and future, but the investigation into the young Moroccan migrant’s death is close to his heart. He takes risks to see it through – and realizes along the way that group solidarity is an essential aspect of police work.
VALENTIN MERLET | ARNAUD BECKRICHE
Beckriche’s head is on the block because his superiors hold him responsible for the misconduct by Gilou’s former team. But he boldly decides to let Laure lead the investigation into the young Moroccan migrant’s death, aware that she could get the men to work as a team again and give them a chance to restore the image of the 2nd criminal investigation division of the French police.
LOUIS-DO DE LENCQUESAING | ÉRIC EDELMAN
Edelman had gone from being Joséphine Karlsson’s courtroom nemesis to being her savior – in his own immoral way. After successfully defending her and offering her a chance to get back on her feet after her release from prison, Joséphine discovered that Edelman was slow-walking her parole in order to keep her under his thumb. Joséphine reacted as you’d imagine – she quit his firm, taking his most lucrative client with her.
BRUNO DEBRANDT | VINCENT BRÉMONT
Brémont and his new wife have sole custody of his and Laure’s daughter – after a series of missteps and neglect on Laure’s part. At work, following a tug of war as to whose investigation it was, Brémont played a crucial role in cracking the Aubervilliers money-laundering case, leading the Criminal Brigade in support of Laure’s team as they followed the money all the way to the top.
MARINE FRANCOU | HEAD WRITER, SHOW RUNNER
Marine Francou is widely respected in the entertainment industry as a brilliant and provocative screen writer and has been the main show runner for Spiral (Engrenages) for the last several seasons. Ms. Francou feels that the secret to Spiral‘s international appeal lies in the fact that the show is very specific to France and goes to great lengths to show precisely how the French police and judicial systems work through very complicated cases. Or in some instances, how the system sometimes falls short despite the best intentions.
