Originally premiering on Austrian TV in 1994, Inspector Rex (Beta Films) was an uber-popular international hit featuring the exploits of German Shepherd police dog Rex, his partners and the rest of the gang at the Vienna Criminal Police as they work together to solve often surprisingly hard-hitting crimes in the historic and picturesque Austrian capital.

More change is in the air this season when, in the opening episode, we say a sad farewell to Rex’s partner-in-ham-rolls Peter Höllerer (Wolf Bachofner) as he retires from the force to help his mother run their family pub outside the city. This leaves long-time medical examiner Dr. Leo Graf (Graham Zemann) as the only remaining two-legged member of the original Rex team. Luckily, Rex’s new best friends Alex Brandtner (Gedeon Burkhard) and Christian Böck (Heinz Weixelbraun) are on-hand to help him through the transition. Woof!
