Season 2 of the Emmy® Award-winning Norwegian crime thriller Mammon now streaming only on MHz Choice!

Winner of the International Emmy® Award for Best Drama Series of 2017, Mammon Season 2 begins with a bang as a popular and controversial commentator and journalist with Norway’s biggest newspaper is brutally murdered – a clear-cut attack on freedom of speech. Who would kill a journalist, and why? Meanwhile, a leaked interview tape fuels the flames of an already volatile fight between the country’s prime minister and his finance minister – one year ahead of elections. Hard-nosed reporter Peter Verås (played by Jon Øigarden) teams up with the murdered journalist’s widow to get to the bottom of the mystery, aided once again by his long-suffering editor, Frank Mathiesen (Nils Ole Oftebro).

Joining the returning cast members are Trond Espen Seim (Varg Veum) as Prime Minister Michael Woll, and Danish actress Laura Christensen as Ellen Clausen, the slain journalist’s widow. Ingar Helge Gimle plays Finance Minister Erik Ulrichsen, fresh off his star turn as William Hansteen in Acquitted. Another Acquitted alumnus, Anna Bache-Wiig, reprises her Season 1 role as Inger Marie Steffensen, now a spokesperson for Prime Minister Woll. Ms. Bache-Wiig is also a writer of some renown – she created Acquitted and co-wrote all the episodes of that popular show!

The stakes are higher this season, the mysteries deeper and the events depicted seem even more ripped-from-the-headlines than before. The many references to Norwegian (and Viking) history, geography and literature won’t leave you lost, but may just spark some curiosity and motivate you to put together a post-viewing reading list. To say anything else would risk spoilers, so we’ll just leave you with one word: Constantinople.
