Happy birthday to one of our favorite Gothenburg* cops as actor Jakob Eklund celebrates his birthday on Feb. 21st! Jakob first played Johan Falk in 1999’s Zero Tolerance, one of the biggest Swedish independent films of all time, spawning two theatrical sequels (2001’s Executive Protection and 2003’s The Third Wave) before spinning off into the successful Johan Falk TV series, which also starred his off-screen wife Marie Richardson (Blue EyesWallander: The Original Episodes) along with Joel Kinnaman (House of Cards) and Jens Hultén (Inspector Winter).

In between appearances as Falk, a bearded Jakob guest-starred opposite Krister Henriksson in Wallander: The Forger as the unconventional cop Frank Borg.

Jakob and the gang will return when two new seasons of Johan Falk premiere on MHz Choice later this year (2018)!

*No, we haven’t forgotten about Angela Kovács as Irene Huss – also based in Gothenburg. Johan and Irene, what a team-up that would be!
