Season 4 Finale
You are going to LOVE this season’s finale of Agatha Christie’s Criminal Games. It’s a musical, so in the midst of solving the crime, Inspector Laurence, Marlène, Avril, Glissant, Tricard, Carmouille are all singing and dancing. Yowza! You gotta see it to believe it. What a party!
How appropriate since we’re also celebrating MHz Choice’s fifth anniversary the same day this episode rolls out. Your loyalty and enthusiasm have allowed us to bring you some of Europe’s finest television entertainment, and we wouldn’t be here unless you shared our vision for international storytelling. Here’s to sharing more terrific programming in the years ahead!
Back to this wonderful finale: it’s living proof that all men and women are not created equal when it comes to singing and dancing. But that’s part of the fun!
This clip begins with Marlène crestfallen because Inspector Laurence just told her he’s leaving for a new post.
This episode also features a familiar face from The Little Murders of Agatha Christie and Agatha Christie’s Family Murder Party – Antoine Duléry as the bombastic Inspector Larosière. In this episode, he joins the gang as Inspector Larosière’s nephew. A stretch, of course, but who cares – it’s great to see him back! And he CAN sing, by the way… In fact, he croons a love song to Marlène about their future together and makes mention of his, um, manhood. Yikes.
Agatha Christie’s Criminal Games has been one of our most durable, consistently entertaining series. So full of hijinks, like actors playing double roles: Elodie Frenck doubling up as Marlène’s ugly, bitter sister in “Hickory Dickory Dock,” Samuel Labarthe playing an acting teacher in “Three Act Tragedy” and also going undercover as a female secretary in “The Man in the Brown Suit.” Also memorable: Labarthe dressing up as Santa Claus in “Christmas Crime.” And Avril (Blandine Bellavoir) getting in front of a mic and singing every chance she got. Oh, and Avril and Swan always pretending they hate each other… Marlène nursing a gargantuan crush on her boss… her goldfish, Bubulle being replaced multiple times without her realizing it. The writing, the ensemble performances, the costumes – it’s all been a kick.
Do yourself a favor and check it out – this finale is guaranteed to put a smile on your face!
