In this two-part coda to the original four-part Season 1, Matteo DeCanin (Tobias Moretti, Inspector Rex) has negotiated a deal with the prosecution: he testifies against the Casavatore clan and in exchange he and his family receive new identities in a witness protection program. But just before the family can enter their new life, Matteo’s wife is killed in an assassination. The relationship between Matteo and his daughter Laura (Antonia Moretti, Backwoods Crime) breaks down after the traumatic experience. In exile in Liguria, they have become strangers. When Laura can’t stand it anymore and runs away, Matteo violates his obligations as a state witness to take matters into his own hands. And he soon realizes that his worst fear has come true: his daughter has been taken by the Casavatore clan. The clock is ticking as Matteo must find her before it’s too late.
