Outrageous French comedy Trouble Mum streams April 21st, 2026 in the U.S. and Canada on MHz Choice!

Created by acclaimed writer/actor Anne-Élisabeth Blateau, the outrageous French comedy-drama Trouble Mum follows Rachel (played by Blateau), a single mother adjusting to life after separation while sharing custody of her young daughter. As she attempts to balance parenting, work and her personal life, Rachel’s impulsive choices and imperfect instincts often lead to awkward, humorous and sometimes emotionally charged situations. The series builds its tone around this mix of comedy and realism, offering a grounded look at modern motherhood.

The supporting cast includes Élodie Frenck (Agatha Christie’s Criminal Games), Mounir Margoum (Balthazar) and Éva Darlan (Murder In…), who portray figures in Rachel’s personal and family life.

Set in and filmed in Marseille, the series reflects everyday urban experiences, particularly the challenges of co-parenting and redefining identity after a breakup. Its focus on a very flawed but very relatable central character sets it apart from more traditional portrayals of motherhood, emphasizing honesty, vulnerability and humor in equal measure.
