Autumn is in full swing, and that means it’s the perfect time of year to settle in for all-new international crime dramas, mysteries, and more on MHz Choice! October takes viewers from sunny Italy to the snowy Arctic, with characters and plotlines that will keep fall interesting.

Let’s start with the end of the month, when Finnish favorite Arctic Circle returns for a fifth season! This hit Nordic noir follows detective Nina Kautsalo, played by Iina Kuustonen, in the remote Lapland town of Ivalo near the Russian border, where small-town drama routinely collides with international intrigue. In the new episodes, a local crime quickly becomes entangled with a large-scale cyber attack, forcing Nina to choose between her duty and those closest to her.

Italian fans, meanwhile, will be thrilled to know that Sicilian mystery Vanina is set to return for a second season this month! This breakout hit stars Giusy Buscemi as Deputy Superintendent Vanina Guarrasi, who solves character-driven mysteries in the sun-drenched Catania. . Season 2 picks up the story of the former anti-mafia officer as she continues building a new life — and a new team — while navigating the fallout of her past. Joining Vanina is new Italian mystery-thriller Time After Time, starring Lino Guanciale (La Porta Rossa). Guanciale plays Elio, a successful lawyer who suddenly finds himself as the suspect in the death of his first love, who died on a vacation 30 years prior. The recovery of her body starts a series of unpredictable evens that lead him to relive that fateful summer.

Then, back to the Nordic countries for two other new series: Icelandic crime drama Reykjavík 112; new Finnish thriller The Girl Who Disappeared; and the fifth and final season of Swedish drama Liv.

Other returning series include the second season of Austrian ensemble crime drama SOKO Linz and Krister Henriksson’s return as Wallander in Season 2 of the crime series based on the bestselling crime novels by Henning Mankell.
