After a distressing phone call leaves Maura (Saga Sarkola) falling apart, she feels she has no choice but to run away. Booking a hotel along the coast of Helsinki, Finland, she hopes that looking out over the sea will help tame her nerves a little. There, she meets Aaro (Johannes Holopainen, Icebreaker), a drunken stranger who is also trying to escape his own troubles.
The two hit it off almost immediately, and Aaro is intrigued by Maura’s odd and mysterious demeanor. After a few dates, Maura suggests they take things a little further with a longer getaway: island hopping on Aaro’s boat. However, they need to leave right away.
But no matter how far Aaro takes them, Susanna can’t seem to outrun whatever is chasing her.
It’s not until Aaro finishes setting up their camp that he begins to notice just how strange Maura’s behavior has become. She’s constantly on edge, wandering off on her own and making mysterious phone calls. Then, the next morning, their vacation abruptly ends when Maura disappears without a trace. Aaro is left wondering whether he ever really knew Maura at all. Or if she even existed.
