In Israeli crime drama Queens (Banijay Rights) all the men of one of Israel’s most prominent crime families are assassinated at a bachelor’s party leaving the women to pick up the pieces. Thrust into a terrifying new reality, the Malka family women must fight for their rightful place in a hyper-masculine world. Dori Malka (Rita) is the widow of Yakov, the head of the Malka crime family, and is equal parts emotionally explosive and loving towards her grandchildren. After the assassination of her husband and son she lingers in the anger stage of grief and wants bloody revenge on those responsible. Her daughter Lizzie (Dana Ivgy) finds her inner crime boss and goes about resurrecting the family business with or without her mother’s approval. The Malkas have a steep learning curve for criming at this level and confront obstacles both inside and outside the family. But it’s not all run and gun for the Malkas. Dori’s sister Tzipi (Orly Silbersatz) and family friend Albert (Igal Naor) bring heart and humor to the chaos.
