Based on the bestselling mystery novels by Maurizio de Giovanni, The Bastards of Pizzofalcone follows the exploits of a ragtag team of misfit detectives in the Pizzofalcone precinct of Naples. Led by Inspector Giuseppe Lojacono (Alessandro Gassmann), a brilliant investigator with a checkered past, the new season begins where Season 1 left off – on the balcony of the Pizzofalcone police station, in the shadow of Mount Vesuvius. Soon, however, the team has a new mystery to solve when Lt. Romano (Gennaro Silvestro) finds a newborn in a dumpster right outside the station….

This new season is directed by Alessandro D’Alatri (Il Commissario Ricciardi), a filmmaker with a passion for both Naples and crime drama. “When I was asked to shoot the second season of The Bastards of Pizzofalcone,” D’Altari said in a recent interview, “I confess that I hesitated not a little: after the great success of the first season, I was aware it would be a high-risk bet. But the tempting factors were many and besides, I’ve always liked gambling… As an essential starting point, I established respect for (author) Maurizio de Giovanni’s narrative… I had the desire to let the viewer experience a city that is going through a moment of great cultural renaissance. Naples is an experience that everyone should have. Its historical multiculturalism makes it a pearl of humanity that I have tried in every way to exalt. Its locations, faces and musicality were an indispensable common thread to tell the stories of the Bastards.”
