“A highly entertaining historical thriller”Screen Rant
“A classy revisiting of the Das Boot universe that retains the claustrophobic doom of [the] classic film while weaving in enough new threads to give it its own identity”The Guardian
In WWII drama Das Boot, the crew of U612, a German U-boat, embark on their maiden voyage in 1942. Meanwhile, a young woman finds herself caught between the Gestapo and the French Resistance. In its second season, the action takes place across two continents as Klaus Hoffman lands in New York and must navigate the American system and a complex relationship with a Senator’s son.
The series stars Franz Dinda (Babylon Berlin), Tom Wlaschiha (Game of Thrones), Rick Okon (Tatort), Rainer Bock (Better Call Saul) and Fleur Geffrier (Sea Shadows, Drops of God), along with Vicky Krieps (Phantom Thread), Vincent Kartheiser (Mad Men) and Lizzy Caplan (Masters of Sex). It was created and written by Tony Saint (Tehran, Lupin) and Johannes Betz (Zero, Tatort) and co-produced by Bavaria Fiction, Sky Deutschland and Sonar Entertainment. Executive producers include Moritz Polter and Jan S. Kaiser for Bavaria Fiction, Marcus Ammon and Frank Jastfelder for Sky Deutschland and Oliver Vogel. The highly lauded series was nominated for eleven German Television Awards, including Best Series, Best Actor (Bester Schauspieler) and Best Actress winner Vicky Krieps.
Das Boot joins series like Babylon Berlin, The Killing, The Bridge, and A French Village along with recent titles Camilla Läckberg’s Erica and Reykjavík Fusion and the upcoming Zorro in MHz Choice’s growing catalog of high-quality international series. The deal with NBCUniversal Global TV Distribution also includes Italian series Dostoyevsky and Piedone – A Cop in Naples, as well as German series Drift – Partners in Crime, all Sky Original series.
