PRODUCER’S NOTE: 2017 marked the 500th anniversary of the Reformation led by Martin Luther, and a lot of creative work came out of Germany commemorating it – including the film, Reformation. For some historical insights we went to two experts – The Rev. Eric C. Shafer, a Lutheran pastor from Santa Monica, CA and Dr. Leonard Schulze, a retired Reformation history professor. We also wanted to know their opinions about this particular retelling of the story of a Wittenberg monk who used new technology (the printing press) to turn the culture of his time upside down.
