German Crime Story – Deadlock (OneGate Media) is a fictionalized retelling of the hunt for the notorious “acid bath killer” who terrorized Hamburg in the late 1980s and early ‘90s. Raik Doormann, played by Oliver Masucci (Herrhausen – The Bank and the Bomb, Dark) is a disgruntled and down-on-on-his-luck furrier whose jovial façade conceals a dark secret. By 1992, through a series of circumstances, Doormann has become the focus of the serial killer investigation. When he is interviewed as a suspect, Doormann claims to have been in cahoots with one of the missing abductees in order to ransom his former boss for 300,000 marks. Doormann then claims she ran off to Switzerland afterwards, but Detective Nela Langenback (Angelina Häntsch, A Cure for Wellness) isn’t buying his story. After facing opposition from her colleagues in the homicide unit, Langenback starts digging into Doormann’s past and uncovers a trail that leads her down a rabbit hole darker than anything she could ever imagine. And when we say dark, we mean dark.
