French mystery Camilla Läckberg’s Erica now streaming in the U.S. and Canada on MHz Choice!

Camilla Läckberg’s Erica brings a French lens to the bestselling crime novels by Camilla Läckberg, reimagining her iconic stories for a new audience. Premiering January 20th, 2026 on MHz Choice, the series blends Nordic noir roots with French dramatic sensibilities, delivering a character-driven mystery that feels both familiar and newly alive.

At the center of the story is crime novelist Erica Faure (Julie De Bona, Murder In…), a woman whose professional success contrasts sharply with the unresolved shadows of her past. After returning to her coastal hometown, Erica finds herself drawn into a series of crimes that echo long-buried secrets. Her skills as a writer become an unexpected asset as she starts to see patterns others miss, but her personal connection to the town also puts her directly in harm’s way. The show carefully balances her investigative instincts with her emotional vulnerability, making Erica a compelling and relatable lead.

Alongside her is charming police captain Patrick Saab (Grégory Fitoussi, Spiral, Forest of the Missing), a steady and thoughtful investigator whose calm exterior hides his own complicated history. Patrick’s partnership with Erica forms the emotional backbone of the series. Their relationship develops gradually through shared cases, mutual respect and occasional friction as professional boundaries blur.

This season consists of six 45-minute episodes, based on Läckberg’s first three novels The Ice Princess, The Preacher and The Stonecutter. What distinguishes these French adaptations are humor, pacing and atmosphere. While staying true to the spirit of Läckberg’s novels, the series leans into a more intimate and psychological approach. Each episode unfolds methodically, focusing on motive and consequence rather than shock alone. The coastal setting plays a crucial role, with stark landscapes and quiet streets reinforcing the sense that beneath a picturesque surface lie generations of secrets.

For viewers new to the author’s work, Camilla Läckberg’s Erica serves as an accessible entry point into her world of layered mysteries and complex characters. For longtime fans, it offers a thoughtful reinterpretation that respects the source material while confidently standing on its own. With strong performances, elegant direction and a focus on emotional truth, Camilla Läckberg’s Erica positions itself as a standout addition to MHz Choice’s ever-growing international lineup.
