In 1978, Italy is a country torn apart by political strife: a new government supported by the Communist Party is about to take power, led by Aldo Moro’s Christian Democratic Party. On the day Moro is to be sworn in as the new prime minister, he is kidnapped in a deadly ambush that kills his entire police escort. The 55 days that follow – 55 days seared into Italy’s collective consciousness – bring political machinations, controversial negotiations and intentions both good and bad.
