Babylon Berlin is officially returning for a fifth and final season, and yes, it will be on MHz Choice in the U.S. and Canada!

The award-winning and acclaimed series from creators Tom Tykwer, Achim von Borries and Henk Handloegten, based on the best-selling novels from Volker Kutscher, returns with eight all-new episodes in its final season.

Season 5 premieres in Germany on September 10, 2026, followed by a North American premiere in February 2027 exclusively on MHz Choice.

Babylon Berlin Season 5 is based on Kutscher’s novel The March Fallen.

The new season takes place in 1933 Berlin, as Adolf Hitler (Clemens Schick) becomes Reich Chancellor, and the Weimar Republic is on the brink of collapse. On March 5, 1933, new elections are set to give the National Socialist German Workers’ Party (NSDAP) complete power. The five weeks leading up to the election will put every single person in Germany to a special test. The final season focuses on this pivotal period in February 1933, as the protagonists face difficult decisions: to conform, to risk open opposition, or to flee. But for a select few, the possibility also arises to stop Hitler at the last minute.

Fans can expect the return of other familiar faces in the final season, including police detective Gereon Rath (Volker Bruch, Generation War), and his partner Charlotte Ritter (Liv Lisa Fries, Munich), tycoon and weapons manufacturer Alfred Nyssen (Lars Eidinger, Tatort: Borowski, All The Light We Cannot See), police photographer Reinhold Gräf (Christian Friedel, The White Lotus, The Zone of Interest), Gereon’s former lover and Charlotte’s sister Helga Rath (Hannah Herzsprung, The Reader), investigative journalist Samuel Katelbach (Karl Markovics, Inspector Rex, The Counterfeiters), and more. Plus, British pop singer Brian Ferry – who is a massive fan of the show and has interpreted some of his music in 1920s style for the series soundtrack – will appear in some of the series’ famous dancehall scenes!

Babylon Berlin is available on the streaming service MHz Choice for viewers in the U.S. and Canada.
