In the new season of Monterossi (Mediawan), our favorite TV writer turned accidental detective Carlo Monterossi (Fabrizio Bentivoglio: Once Upon a Time in Vigata) is still where we left him at the end of Season 1: in a job that he hates with the very expensive songs of Bob Dylan as his only solace. Then Fabrizio Gotti, a rich entrepreneur with an irreproachable existence, is mysteriously killed with two gunshots. His daughter is a young and beautiful influencer with a fair number of followers: actually, she would be the perfect guest to re-launch the TV show “Crazy Love”…
Meanwhile, the police are stumbling in the dark. For detectives Ghezzi and Carella, Gotti’s murder can only be a warning – but for whom? Perhaps the answer is somehow connected to a phone call two professional killers receive from someone desperately needing their services…
Again directed by the prolific Roan Johnson (Murders at Barlume), the real star of Monterossi is Milan itself, with all its contradictions, peculiarities and varied locales – from TV studios to large luxury hotels, from villas on the lakes to working class neighborhoods. But this season’s mysteries will also take us all the way to Calabria, a journey that crosses Italy from north to south, enhancing and enriching the story along the way.
