Season 3 of Chantal continues the offbeat police dramedy with a deeper focus on character growth, small-town absurdity, and emotional undercurrents. The series stars Maaike Cafmeyer as Chantal Vantomme, a former big-city police inspector who is reassigned to the small rural town of Loveringem in Belgium’s “Wild West” – much to her ongoing frustration. What initially felt like exile has gradually become a place of reluctant belonging.
In this third season, Chantal finds herself more integrated into the eccentric local community while still grappling with her instincts for bigger, more complex cases. Her colleagues – an odd but loyal group of officers – continue to provide both comic relief and unexpected support. Personally, Chantal makes a concerted effort to strike a better work-life balance (trying out a four-day work week!), extends compassion to a distressed local resident and organizes a clean-up crew for an elderly man whose family abandoned him.
Filming remains rooted in the Flemish countryside of Belgium, using real villages and pastoral landscapes to create a grounded, intimate atmosphere. The contrast between Chantal’s sharp, city-honed approach and the slower rhythms of rural life remains central. Season 3 refines the show’s tone, blending dry humor, character-driven storytelling and understated drama into a distinctly Belgian take on the crime genre.
Chantal Season 3 streams April 14th, 2026 on MHz Choice.
