French mystery thriller Sea Shadows follows oceanographer Abigail Dufay as she returns to the Normandy fishing town of Fécamp after the unexplained sinking of a trawler and the disappearance of its crew. Haunted by a personal tragedy that drove her away years earlier, Abigail becomes entangled in a growing series of strange events linked to the sea, local legends and environmental disturbances. The series blends crime drama, psychological mystery and sci-fi elements against the rugged backdrop of the French coast.

Abigail is played by Fleur Geffrier, known internationally for her lead role in the first season of the German TV series Das Boot. Thierry Godard (A French Village, Spiral) plays her father Henri, one of the key figures tied to the town’s buried secrets. The cast also includes Jean-Marc Barr (Murder In…) as the enigmatic André and Daniel Njo Lobé (Le Code) as Laurent.

Created by Jonathan Rio and Monica Rattazzi (Piste Noire) and directed by David Hourrègue (Germinal), the six-part limited series was filmed around Fécamp and Dieppe in Normandy, with additional underwater studio work completed near Brussels. The windswept cliffs, harbors and cold Atlantic waters are central to the show’s atmosphere, giving Sea Shadows an eerie maritime identity that sets it apart from standard police procedurals. Unfortunately there are no recurring cat characters or cat-related subplots – perhaps because cats have an aversion to the water. But it’s still a great series!
