U.S. PREMIERE! Superintendent Larosière and Inspector Lampion are back in Agatha Christie’s Family Murder Party, now streaming only on MHz Choice! A four-part miniseries originally broadcast on French TV in November 2006, Agatha Christie’s Family Murder Party was a huge hit, and this popularity led to a further series of Christie adaptations, The Little Murders of Agatha Christie, in which Antoine Duléry reprised his role as the bombastic, know-it-all Superintendent Jean Larosière and Marius Colucci returned as the young Émile Lampion.

Trailer

So… this is a prequel to The Little Murders of Agatha Christie, huh? Well, yes and no. Certainly, it depicts the first meeting between Lampion and Larosière. However, because it was not intended to be an ongoing series, you may notice some chronological discrepancies between Family Murder Party and the subsequent Little Murders series – Family Murder Party takes place during World War II, for example, while Little Murders is firmly set several years earlier in the 1930s. But don’t worry about these little details, the mystery is what we’re here for – and it’s a big one!

Unlike Little Murders, where every 90-minute installment is a single story, Family Murder Party adapts the classic Christie novel “Hercule Poirot’s Christmas” over the course of four 90-minute episodes. This gives the mystery plenty of time to thicken, the plot plenty of time to twist and turn, and the characters plenty of opportunity to meet untimely demises. (This is Agatha Christie, after all.) Just look at how many potential victims we’re talking about here (see cast below) – each one with their own motive for murder!

So sit back, relax and get ready for a classic mystery – with a French twist! The only thing we ask is that you please not spoil the ending for those who have yet to see it – please mark all discussions about the last episode with a big SPOILER WARNING! (And just to be safe, you might want to avoid reading any comments until after you’ve seen it!)
