Season 7 of the Swedish crime drama Gåsmamman, starring Alexandra Rapaport as Sonja Ek, begins the two-part epilogue to the long-running saga. This penultimate season picks up two years after the explosive events of Season 6 and puts Sonja’s children firmly at the center of the action.

Sonja’s transformation from suburban mother to hardened criminal has been at the heart of the series. After her husband Fredrik’s criminal dealings dragged the family into Stockholm’s underworld, Sonja repeatedly crossed legal and moral lines to protect Nina, Gustav and Linus. By the end of Season 6, the family had endured betrayals, murders, shifting alliances and a devastating explosion that left Sonja presumed dead. Season 7 opens on the anniversary of Sonja’s “death”. Nina, Gustav and Linus gather for a memorial, only to come under attack, setting off a hunt for those responsible. Emil Svensson, the police investigator who has spent years entangled with the Ek family, suspects the attack may be connected to a witness he is protecting.

Across the next episodes, the siblings pursue their own investigation and uncover a lead that takes them toward Italy. A mysterious figure from the past resurfaces, Nina finds herself dealing with Barry’s questionable business associates and Gustav becomes increasingly caught up in the escalating danger. Emil gets closer to identifying the person behind the attacks, but his investigation reveals that the threat may be more complicated than it first appeared…
