It’s the early 1980s and an Aerobics class is the new sensation among the women of Blagnac, a sleepy suburb of Toulouse, France. But it’s not all neon spandex and teased bangs – there’s also an American spy in their midst! France is determined to build an aeronautics program to compete with the Americans. And the Americans are determined to maintain their dominance of the skies. Enter Jane (Alexia Barlier, Art of Crime) who uses her Aerobics instructor persona to glean information from the wives, daughters and sisters of those who work on Project 37, France’s top secret aeronautics program. 

The women are initially easy marks for Jane to penetrate their confidence. In various stages of middle-aged angst, the women of Blagnac greet Jane with a mix of admiration and jealousy. Their love-hate relationship with Jane and her Aerobics class is eventually a source of growing confidence in themselves as information about the men in their lives is casually confided to Jane. Suspicions do arise of course as Karine (Claire Dumas) senses that something is amiss. The stakes of TouTouYouTou are uniquely less world-ending than other spy thrillers, but loads of delicious fun in the form of ten bite-sized episodes.

Tatort: Bremen

Premieres on August 13, 2024 (Beta Film)  

Please join us in welcoming the latest (the eighth!) Tatort series to join the growing franchise on MHz Choice. Tatort: Bremen features the detective duo of Chief Inspector Inga Lürsen (Sabine Postel) and Commissioner Nils Stedefruend (Oliver Mommsen). Lürsen is more experienced and measured while Stedefruend is a little more excitable and can take things a step too far. This season, the pair work together to solve crimes related to gang feuds, corporate cover ups, jealous spouses and even international conspiracies.

Returning Series

August marks the start of a new era for Don Matteo fans. After more than 250 episodes of the perfect Italian blend of mystery, comedy and drama, Don Matteo (Lux Vide) is back on August 27, 2024 with a brand-new season… and there will be a new priest in town! Raoul Bova (Medici, The Octopus) will be taking over the parish in Episode 9 as his character Father Massimo replaces Father Matteo as Spoleto’s new crime-solving priest. Massimo shares key traits with Terrence Hill’s iconic Father Matteo character – humble, patient and believing the best in people. He even gets around by bike – though technically it’s a motorcycle. And not to worry, Marshal Cecchini (Nino Frassica), Captain Olivieri (Maria Chiara Giannetta), Pippo (Francesco Scali), Natalina (Nathalie Guettà) and the gang are, as always, along for the ride!

The French limited series Crime is Her Game (Film & Picture) will be complete this month with the final new episode premiering on August 13, 2024. The countryside police station is in a panic as law enforcement paraphernalia has disappeared and the National Police (IGPN) arrive to investigate. The eccentric Captain Gaby Molina is nowhere to be found and therefore quickly comes under suspicion. Her trusted partner Lieutenant Céline Richer (Hélène Seuzare) is caught between defending Molina and figuring out what’s really going on. 

The classic Danish thriller The Eagle (DR) continues with a second season on August 6th. The inner struggle of Hallgrim Hallgrimsson aka “The Eagle” (Jens Albinus, Borgen) is ongoing despite his top notch investigative instincts.

Murder In… also continues with a new episode each week. New episodes this month include Cantal, Cassis, Chateau-Thierry and Chantilly.

Don’t worry we also have subtitled versions!

The 7th and 8th season of perennial MHz Choice favorite Spiral will now have versions available that are dubbed in English on August 7, 2024 and August 20, 2024 respectively.

When an ex-terrorist seeks political asylum it’s up to undercover cop Mari Saari to befriend the criminal and find out why she’s really come to Helsinki. But in the hunt for answers, not everything is as it seems.
