Based on the bestselling mystery novels by Maurizio de Giovanni, The Bastards of Pizzofalcone follows the exploits of a ragtag team of misfit detectives in the Pizzofalcone precinct of Naples. Led by Inspector Giuseppe Lojacono, a brilliant investigator with a checkered past, the new season begins where Season 2 left off – in the immediate aftermath of the car bomb attack on Letizia’s restaurant, which results in one death and one life hanging in the balance. The investigation into the explosion is headed by an outsider, and the Bastards are all relegated to office duties. This, of course, doesn’t stop them from conducting their own unofficial investigation into the attack…

This new season is directed by Monica Vullo, who also helmed Don Matteo Seasons 9 and 10 – both now streaming on MHz Choice. “When I was asked to do the third season of The Bastards of Pizzofalcone,” Vullo said in a recent interview, “it immediately seemed like a wonderful challenge and a great opportunity. I knew the novels of Maurizio de Giovanni and I knew the previous series. The great success that preceded me did not frighten me, on the contrary it was my fuel. Naples: you cannot say you know it until you breathe its corners, its squares, the streets, the sea, Vesuvius, the grandeur of its buildings, the beauty scattered everywhere like icing sugar, and in any case after months of work, you go away with the distinct feeling of not knowing it yet.”
