Cozy French crime drama The Family Detective streams May 19th, 2026 in the U.S. and Canada on MHz Choice!

French crime comedy series The Family Detective brings a lighter touch to the detective genre through the story of an overinvolved Breton couple who cannot stop meddling in their daughter’s police investigations. Created by Jeanne Le Guillou and Bruno Dega for TF1, the six-episode series combines cozy mystery storytelling with family comedy and small-town charm.

The series stars Clémentine Célarié (Poquelin and De Beaumont) as Claire Rochette and Bernard Le Coq (Perfect Murders, Cassandre) as her husband Philippe, owners of a hardware store in Brittany who are obsessed with crime novels and TV detective shows. Their daughter Charline (Naïma Rodric, Murder In) is a police captain who has transferred from Paris back to Rennes. Much to her frustration, her parents constantly insert themselves into her cases and become amateur sleuths, giving the series a breezy tone that leans as much into eccentric family relationships as traditional whodunits.

The Family Detective was filmed in Brittany, primarily in Rennes and across the Ille-et-Vilaine department. Locations included the Parc Oberthür area of Rennes, Guichen-Pont-Réan, Bazouges-la-Pérouse and the medieval town of Châteaugiron, helping give the series its distinctly regional atmosphere.

The Family Detective streams May 19th, 2026 on MHz Choice.
