Jakob Oftebro (1864) stars as Swedish superspy Carl Hamilton in a new ten-part series inspired by the novels of author and journalist Jan Guillou. Guillou published his first Hamilton novel back in 1986, and the books have been adapted into many movies and TV series over the years. Stefan Sauk stars in this 1995 Swedish-Italian co-production, which follows Hamilton as he takes on the Sicilian Mafia. If Peter Haber is the suave James Bond of the Hamilton series and Persbrandt is the Jason Bourne, then Sauk’s is a ’70s-style Clint Eastwood/Charles Bronson vigilante portrayal. Gritty and intense. Fans of The Octopus will recognize many of the supporting actors.
