Clear your calendars: June on MHz Choice is a month of heavy hitters and hidden gems that truly spans from A to Z. (The Art of Crime to Zorro, that is).

The new and returning series this month span continents and centuries, but two French productions lead the pack. The long-awaited eighth season of The Art of Crime returns June 23, reuniting art historian Florence Chassagne and no-nonsense detective Antoine Verlay for two feature-length cases — this season orbiting the worlds of Raphael and French neoclassicist Ingres. And closing out the month on June 30, Zorro fully reimagines the classic character: a comedic action series starring Oscar winner Jean Dujardin as a middle-aged Don Diego who reluctantly pulls his old mask back on to save a financially ruined 1821 Los Angeles. It’s fun, sexy, and swashbuckling in a way that’s entirely its own.

New series rounding out June include Sea Shadows (June 2), a French eco-thriller about a marine scientist investigating a mysterious shipwreck — one of France’s most-watched dramas of the year — and Camilla Läckberg’s The Beach Hotel (June 16), which brings the Queen of Crime’s signature soap-mystery blend to a coastal Swedish hotel full of secrets and suspicious deaths. Tatort: Vienna fans might be mourning the conclusion of the penultimate season last month, but Tatort: Eisner arrives June 9 with a prequel look of Moritz’s Viennese life before Bibi. Anno 1790 (June 23), a richly atmospheric Swedish historical mystery following an Enlightenment-era police commissioner solving crimes in late 18th-century Stockholm, will also come back to MHz Choice.

Returning favorites are equally strong this month. Soak up the sun and some wine when Imma Tataranni returns for Season 5 on June 2 before Season 3 of The Traveller — following a retired French detective who goes rogue to get justice for bereaved families — returns June 16. The month closes June 30 with Nora Sand Season 2, the hit Danish Nordic Noir series based on Lone Theils’ novels that MHz Choice fans will remember as Fatal Crossing.
