This March on MHz Choice is all about the classic kinds of series that you just can’t get enough of: procedurals that scratch your weekly crime itch, a returning Nordic Noir hit, lighter mysteries that are sure to please, and plenty of returning favorites.

First thing to highlight this month is Finland. There are two more fantastic entries joining fellow new Finnish series Crime on Your Mind, which premiered in February. March 10 sees the premiere of spy thriller Codename: Annika, which can best be described as the middle of a Venn diagram made up of James Bond, Nordic Noir, and The Art of Crime. The series follows spy-in-training Emma (codename, Annika, of course) in her first official mission with the Finnish NBI: to infiltrate an exclusive art fraud ring operating across the Baltic Sea. Following that chilling thriller is Lakeside Murders. Based on the novels by Seppo Jokinen, this procedural follows in the Nordic crime tradition of Unit One as Inspector Koskinen and his team investigate tough murder cases in the lakeside city of Tampere.

If classic crime drama is what you’re looking for, you’ll probably be thrilled to hear that Tatort: Vienna is returning for a fourth season this month! That’s right, detectives Moritz Eisner and Bibi Fellner (considered by many to be the best Tatort pairing) are back for another gripping season of crime in the heart of Austria. And to top it all off, Sofia Helin (The Bridge) returns for a second season of Swedish noir sensation Fallen on March 24.

However, if lighter mysteries are more your speed, March has plenty of options in store for you as well! With new seasons of French mystery favorites Cassandre, Mismatch, and Alexandre Ehle, the returning mysteries this month go above and beyond with some of our favorite Strong Female Leads. Plus, there’s all-new Italian mystery Gerri, based on the novels by Giorgia Lepore, and the French addition The Black Widow, which follows a grieving widow – and suspect in her husband’s murder – who may or may not be living a double life…

Last but not least, March comes to a close with the Danish drama Generations, in which the discovery of a mummified baby in a Copenhagen residence triggers long-held family secrets, betrayals and forbidden truths across three generations.

All-in-all, what a month! There’s certainly a lot to look forward to as spring slowly starts to show up, so you’d better get streaming.
