They’re back again for a final encore!
The last two episodes of French mystery series Tandem will finally reveal the romantic origin story of Léa (Astrid Veillon) and Paul (Stéphane Blancafort) – along with a brand-new murder mystery, of course! True to form, the central investigation is tangled up with the characters’ personal lives. Plus, you’ll find out if the slow-burn romantic tension between Léa and Paul is finally strong enough for a lasting rekindling…
Tandem fans will appreciate the nostalgic ‘90s flashbacks in the upcoming season which show how Léa and Paul first started dating. This finale was helmed by series star Astrid Veillon in her directorial debut. If you’re curious, Season 8 was originally released in France as a single 90-minute reunion TV movie called “Back to the Past”, but it has been split into two episodes by the French distributor for the international release. You can catch up on the previous seven seasons of Tandem on MHz Choice, or if you’d like to refresh your memory on the show’s overarching plot – read on. And beware spoilers!
In Season 1 of Tandem, Commander Léa Soler (Astrid Veillon, Murder In…) and Captain Paul Marchal (Stéphane Blancafort, Cassandre) are already divorced and raising two teenage children. When Léa is transferred to Paul’s police unit, romantic tension and co-parenting complexities escalate. Feelings are reawakened between Léa and Paul in Season 5, Episode 11 after Léa is attacked and suffers a concussion. She’s forgotten they’re divorced and the last thing she remembers is being madly in love with Paul! Then in Season 6, the exes turned police partners are shook when Paul is seriously wounded on the job. Léa is determined to hunt down the perpetrator. When the investigation turns dangerous, it becomes clear her commitment to finding the criminal is not only professional, but because she has deep feelings for Paul.
Tandem Season 8 (the final finale!) will finally answer all of your questions about the romance between Léa and Paul as they work in tandem chasing after a murderer – and unravel the mystery surrounding their best friend’s suicide.
