Created by bestselling crime novelist Camilla Läckberg, Camilla Läckberg’s The Beach Hotel blends soap opera intrigue, family drama and murder mystery against the backdrop of Sweden’s west coast – think The White Lotus with a Swedish flair! The eight-episode first season marked yet another television success for Läckberg following on from her earlier Swedish series Camilla Läckberg’s Fjallbacka Murders and her recent French hit Camilla Läckberg’s Erica. Rather than adapting one of her novels, The Beach Hotel was conceived specifically for TV as an original story mixing Nordic noir elements with the glossy appeal of a seaside family saga.
The story begins when hotel owner Werner Gyllenmark (Samuel Fröler, Bordertown) celebrates his 60th birthday at the luxurious beach hotel that has long been the centerpiece of the coastal community of Saltsjövik. Family members, employees and old rivals gather for the festivities, but the celebration is shattered by a shocking incident that exposes years of buried secrets. As tensions mount between the influential Gyllenmark and Grip families, forbidden relationships, betrayals and murder investigations threaten to tear the town apart. And to say much more would spoil things…
The ensemble cast also includes Sofia Karemyr (The Inspector and the Sea) as Julie Grip, Filip Wolfe (Agatha Christie’s Hjerson) as Sebastian, Irina Eidsvold Tøien (Occupied) as Marianne, Peter Eriksson (Beck) as Svante and Rojan Telo (Gåsmamman) as Aksel.
Filming took place in and around the picturesque coastal town of Varberg, whose beaches, harbor and resort atmosphere provide the perfect setting for the show’s mix of luxury, romance and deadly secrets.
Camilla Läckberg’s The Beach Hotel Season 1 streams June 16th, 2026 on MHz Choice.
