Set against the dramatic backdrop of northern Norway, Liv is a character-driven family drama about three siblings whose personal and professional lives become increasingly intertwined. Charlotte Grundt stars as Ingrid Nygaard, a successful surgeon at a hospital in Tromsø who makes the unexpected decision to leave her demanding career and move with her family to a quieter life by the sea. Jesper Malm plays her brother Tobias, while Zoe Winther-Hansen portrays Ingrid’s teenage daughter Thale. Hanne Mathisen Haga co-stars as Aurora Enoksen, with Terje Skonseng Naudéer as Jacob.
Season 1 introduces the Nygaard family as Ingrid’s decision to walk away from her career raises questions within the family and puts pressure on long-standing relationships. Meanwhile, Tobias continues to deal with his own challenges and the siblings find themselves drawn back into family conflicts that are difficult to escape. The five-episode season moves between the family’s new life and the hospital world in Tromsø, where Tobias continues to work and where the demands of medicine provide another source of drama.
With its combination of family tensions, workplace pressures and the striking landscapes of northern Norway, Liv offers an intimate portrait of people confronting expectations, difficult choices and the possibility of starting over.
LIV Season 1 streams September 8th, 2026 on MHz Choice. Subsequent seasons will follow weekly!
