Unseen for more than 50 years, all 52 episodes of the classic BBC television murder mystery series Maigret have been remastered and will be made available for the first time in the U.S. and Canada on MHz Choice. The series starred Rupert Davies as the cunning sleuth Inspector Jules Maigret.
For many years, Maigret fans have asked, “Where can I watch the BBC version of Maigret from 1960?” It was long assumed that the original masters of this touchstone drama were a victim of the great BBC wipeout that saw the recordings of so many fine programs in the 1960s permanently deleted so that the videotape could be reused. Happily for all of us Maigret fans, this turns out not to be the case. On April 11th, 2023, MHz Choice will premiere all 13 episodes of Season 1 soon to be followed by Seasons 2, 3 and 4 later in the year.
This BBC television production is the definitive adaptation of Georges Simenon’s world famous novels and stars Rupert Davies in a BAFTA-winning portrayal of the dogged French detective. For superfans of the franchise, all seasons of the French version of Maigret starring Bruno Cremer are already streaming on MHz Choice.
