Season 8 of The Art of Crime continues the winning formula that has made the French series a favorite among mystery fans. Nicolas Gob stars as Antoine Verlay, a police investigator whose knowledge of art is virtually nonexistent, while Éléonore Bernheim plays Florence Chassagne, an eccentric but brilliant art historian. In the two-part “The Second Odalisque”, the murder of a virtual reality game designer leads the duo into the sensual and colorful world of nineteenth-century painter Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres. To solve the case, Antoine and Florence must navigate a VR experience inspired by the artist’s work, uncovering clues hidden within a digital recreation of his imagery. Meanwhile, a novelist researching the investigators adds another layer of complication to their already complicated relationship…
