The long wait is over – Freddy und Max sind wieder da! The much-requested return of fan favorites Freddy Schenk (Dietmar Bär) and Max Ballauf (Klaus J. Behrendt) finally comes to pass as Tatort: Cologne Season 4 (Beta Film) premieres on April 22^nd, 2025! The longest-running Tatort duo by far (over 100 episodes and counting since 1997, not including Klaus J. Behrendt’s initial eight-episode run as Max in Tatort: Düsseldorf from 1992-1994), Freddy and Max are still going strong after almost three decades of crime-fighting.

What else do you need to know before diving in? Absolutely nothing – new viewers can jump straight into Season 4 without missing a beat since every episode is a standalone case and Max and Freddy’s irresistible chemistry instantly shines through.

But long-term viewers will be rewarded with the re-appearance of familiar faces including Freddy and Max’s trusted assistant Franziska Lüttgenjohann (Tessa Mittelstaedt), insufferable chief prosecutor Wolfgang von Prinz (the late Christian Tasche) and Medical Examiner Joseph Roth (Jo Bausch) – as well as a return visit from former colleague Lissy Pütz (Anna Loos).

Guest stars in this new season include Charly Hübner (Alexander Bukow in Bukow & König and Crime Scene Cleaner), Anna Schudt (Martina Böhnisch from Tatort: Dortmund, here playing a completely different character) and movie star Udo Kier (Dogville, The Kingdom) – plus a special crossover episode with detectives Eva Saalfeld (Simone Thomalla) and Andreas Keppler (Martin Wuttke) from Tatort: Leipzig!
