What better way to kick off a new month on MHz Choice than with an all-new season of Murder In…? That’s how this September gets started, and that’s just the beginning!

Yes, Murder In… Season 16 is streaming now on MHz Choice. The new episodes get the hit French mystery anthology back to its roots: epic scenery, twisting cases, and outstanding detectives starring new and familiar faces alike.

New series in September include the critically-acclaimed French-Belgian miniseries Sambre, which dramatizes one of France’s most notorious failures of justice. For thirty years, from 1988 until his capture in 2018, a serial rapist assaulted women along the same stretch of road near the Sambre river while investigators repeatedly failed to connect the cases. Told in six episodes across multiple timelines — moving from the first victim to the judge, the mayor, the forensic scientist, and finally the cold-case detective who cracks it open — it’s a tough, unflinching watch that builds toward a reckoning in the #MeToo era.

There are also two Scandinavian additions this month: Norwegian drama Liv and Finnish mystery Seconds. Binge watchers will be thrilled to know that all four seasons of Liv are premiering back-to-back in September! The series follows three siblings connected to a hospital in Tromsø, including Ingrid, a top surgeon who upends her career to move her family out to the coast. It starts as a story about work-life balance and turns into something darker once a sudden inheritance puts the family’s stake in a pharmaceutical fortune — and old resentments — front and center. Seconds is a different kind of mystery, opening on a train derailment in a small town and following accident investigator Marita Kaila as she leads a team through the wreckage to determine what went wrong.

Then there are four series returning for new seasons, from familiar (and familial) mysteries to pulse-racing crime dramas. Sweden’s Gåsmamman wraps up for good this month. Season 7 is the finale for the crime saga that’s followed accountant-turned-reluctant-criminal Sonja Ek and her family since 2015, and it goes out at full intensity.

Dutch crime drama Anonymous as well as Germany’s Tatort: Falke both return for a second season this month, and French favorite Simon Coleman is back for a third season.
