The Destitutes is a spoof parody crime/fantasy series set during the 2008 Italian economic crisis in Fano, a city in the Marche region of central Italy.

Originally released as a trilogy of feature films – Gli Sbancati 1 (2014), Gli Sbancati 2 (2015) and Gli Sbancati 1944 (2019) – the producers and director Henry Secchiaroli subsequently re-edited the films into eight 45-minute TV episodes.

The actors are all from the local Fanese Theatre Company and give spirited, intentionally-heightened comedic performances in Fanese, a dialect unique to the Marche region but generally intelligible to standard Italian speakers.
