Imma Tataranni stars Vanessa Scalera as the title character, a workaholic deputy prosecutor with a prodigious memory and unique sense of style who solves the cases entrusted to her with unorthodox methods and attitude to spare. Filmed throughout the stunning Basilicata region of southern Italy, the show is based in the ancient city of Matera, famous for its Sassi district of hillside cave dwellings dating back thousands of years.

Imma has always balanced brutal honesty with fierce loyalty to her family and colleagues. By the end of Season 4, however, that balance had shattered. After years of unresolved tension, Imma finally kissed Marshal Ippazio Calogiuri, the younger carabiniere played by Alessio Lapice. The moment forced both characters to confront feelings they had long tried to ignore. At the same time, Imma’s marriage to Pietro De Ruggeri, played by Massimiliano Gallo, was already under strain after Pietro’s own emotional entanglement outside the marriage. Season 5 begins with all three characters emotionally adrift; Imma temporarily leaves home, Pietro questions whether their marriage can survive and Calogiuri finds himself pulled between love, duty and danger. While Imma tackles new cases involving murder, organized crime and hidden family secrets, the emotional triangle remains central to the drama. Pietro begins imagining a different future for himself, while Calogiuri’s undercover work leads to major consequences that could permanently alter his relationship with Imma. Without giving away the ending, Season 5 pushes each member of the triangle toward painful decisions about loyalty, passion and what remains after years of shared history. The result is the show’s most emotionally charged season to date.
