Norwegian drama Liv returns for a second season with the Nygaard family facing new challenges involving their complicated family history, personal relationships and a substantial pharmaceutical fortune. The series centers on siblings Ingrid Nygaard (Charlotte Grundt), Tobias Nygaard (Jesper Malm) and Henrik Nygaard (Jo Saberniak), whose lives remain connected to their family’s business interests and their roots in northern Norway. Ingrid’s partner Jacob (Terje Skonseng Naudeer) and Tobias’ son also become important parts of the family story.
Set primarily in Tromsø and the surrounding northern Norwegian landscape, the series balances intimate family drama with questions about ambition, loyalty and the burden of inheritance. Season 1 established the siblings’ very different approaches to work and family. Ingrid had stepped away from her demanding career as a surgeon in search of a quieter life, while Tobias and Henrik remained more closely tied to the family’s business and its considerable wealth.
Season 2 raises the stakes when the siblings’ authoritarian father becomes seriously ill and his condition forces them back into each other’s orbit. At the same time, questions surrounding the future of the family pharmaceutical company and its inheritance create growing tension between Tobias and Henrik. Ingrid finds herself caught between her family’s expectations and the life she has tried to build for herself. The five-episode season expands the show’s exploration of how family ties can be both a source of security and a source of conflict, without resolving every question along the way.
LIV Season 2 streams September 15th, 2026 on MHz Choice. Subsequent seasons will follow weekly!
