After its debut in 2017, Babylon Berlin quickly became an international sensation and has been called the “best international TV series of all-time” by the New York Times. The first three seasons were added to MHz Choice in spring 2024, ahead of the exclusive North American premiere of Season 4 in July 2024. Based on the best-selling novels by Volker Kutscher, the series follows police detective Gereon Rath (Volker Bruch) and flapper-turned-investigator Charlotte Ritter (Liv Lisa Fries) as they solve crimes in Weimar Germany, under the shadow of the rise of the Nazi Party.

Season 5 is based on Kutscher’s novel The March Fallen and will end in 1933: the year Hitler finally took power. Plus, British pop singer Brian Ferry – who is a massive fan of the show and has interpreted some of his music in 1920s style for the series soundtrack – will appear in some of the series’ famous dancehall scenes!
