French limited comedy-drama series Love and Trouble in Paris (France Televisions) is an unconventional series of love triangles centered around Julie (Maud Baecker), who sets the stage for mishaps and misunderstandings. We meet Julie at a life low-point and begrudging bridesmaid at her perfect sister’s wedding. She’s been dumped, fired and in need of a roommate to keep her apartment. Julie is determined to turn her life around and thinks she’s stumbled upon the way forward when she finds a cell phone in a cab with the most romantic marriage proposal voicemail she’s ever heard. The only problem being that the message is intended for the real owner of the phone. Enter a new male roommate pretending to be gay and Julie’s besties and you have yourself a classic romantic comedy in six parts.
